2015 Chevrolet Trax

City Smart and Texas Tough by Sarah Warburton

When you think of “Texas Tough,” do you think of trucks or off-road vehicles? That’s not the only way we roll in the Lone Star State. If you’re one of the millions of drivers on the road between Houston and Fort Bend, you need a ride that’s tough enough to get you through rush hour, with the fuel economy, space, and maneuverability to make it “city smart.” We found the 2015 Chevrolet Trax from Classic Chevrolet perfect for finding new roads or making tracks in style.

The first thing you’ll notice in the driver’s seat is the space. Somehow, Chevy’s made the Trax bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. At 168.5 inches from bumper to bumper, the Trax is a cinch to park (and the rearview camera that comes standard doesn’t hurt!). At 65.9 inches tall and 69.9 inches wide, there’s space inside for you, your friends (or the kids), and all your gear, too. Best of all, nobody will feel scrunched. If you’re hauling your sports equipment, your latest furniture “find,” or something for the garden, the passenger seat folds flat and the rear seats are 60/40 split-folding…so you can carry your 8-ft paddleboard down to Galveston. And we counted 15 available storage cubbies, consoles, and cupholders…the most in its class.

Once we hit the road, we loved how responsive the Trax is and how smoothly it takes any bumps. This isn’t some nervous filly that will shy and shake when faced with a pothole or uneven pavement. We found the Trax eager to go…powerful, yet perfectly assured in every situation. The suspension did its job and kept the ride steady and smooth. Turning was tight and we felt the Trax was both nimble and reliable. The 1.4 turbocharged Ecotec inline-four engine delivers 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. While the six-speed automatic transmission is standard, all-wheel drives will be an available option. You can get the power you need with the efficiency you want!

As self-professed tech-addicts, we were thrilled with the Trax’s infotainment options. OnStar 4G LTE connectivity makes it the ultimate “mobile hotspot” with enough Wi-Fi for up to seven wireless devices. Connect your smart phone to the Trax via Bluetooth or USB and you can make calls, send texts, use apps for music like Pandora, TuneIn, and Stitcher,  and get directions (or avoid traffic delays) with a GPS-enabled downloadable app-based navigation system…all on the 7-inch color touchscreen. And Chevrolet is the first manufacturer to offer Siri Eyes Free that allows select iPhone users to make calls and send texts…without touching a screen.

You don’t have to wait until 2015 to check out the new 2015 Chevy Trax. Don Kerstetter, owner of Classic Chevrolet Sugar Land  says, “Stop by anytime and let our friendly, low-pressure team show you all we have to offer. Even when we’re excited about new arrivals, we promise you’ll be able to relax and enjoy the difference here!”
