A Blood Clot Can Be Just a Bump in the Road

Last year Officer Mark Somer discovered that he had a potentially dangerous blood clot. He says, “I went to my family doctor and saw several specialists but I ran into dead ends. No one could help…and I became frustrated. Finally my hematology doctor recommended Local Vascular Surgeon, Ulises Baltazar MD, RVT, FACS.”

“I felt like more than a patient…I felt like a friend they were going to help. Dr. Baltazar wanted me to tell him what was going on. He spent time with me, answered all of my questions, and really listened to me. He wanted to hear everything from the beginning, from the first doctor, through every step that I took. I liked that he took a personal interest in my case and made me feel important. He was genuinely concerned about my health and well-being. He even gave me his cell phone number! He made a plan and set a goal for me. He made sure that I followed the plan to get the best results.”

“Dr. Baltazar put me on some medication for the short term and did some diagnostic testing in his office…so he could see the big picture. It was nice to get the testing done there without going to another facility. Dr. Baltazar said that a solution wouldn’t happen overnight, but this clot was just a bump in the road and we’d take care of it. When I went back to see him for more testing, he wasn’t satisfied with the progress. He invited me and my wife to come discuss a laser procedure. At that appointment, he walked us through every step, so we knew exactly what to expect. Throughout the procedure, he told me everything he was doing. I was very pleased that he answered all of my questions. The procedure went well and was successful!”

Board-certified in Vascular Surgery with a reputation that is second to none, Dr. Baltazar performed the first case of Mechano-Chemical Ablation (MOCA) in Texas. He’s had years of training, diagnosing, and treating diseases of the arteries and veins. Dr. Baltazar says, “Varicose veins indicate an increased chance for blood clots in the superficial system and in the deep system…which are potentially lethal. That’s why treating varicose veins is a passion of mine…I want to keep your elegant circulatory system working in top form!”

Office Somer adds, “I noticed from the beginning how experienced Dr. Baltazar is in his field and appreciated how confident he was in his ability to help me. Even so, he always talked to me in clear terms, one-on-one, and after my procedure, he personally called to check on me. Dr. Baltazar is a very compassionate man. I will always recommend people to him…and I consider him a friend!”
