Michael and Patty Knobelock have been in the restaurant business for 23 years. “We bought a convenience store 23 years ago,” says Patty, “and after making that venture profitable, we purchased a Church’s Chicken franchise. I would work days and Mike worked nights managing the restaurant.” And all their hard work paid off. Today, 72 stores and concepts later, Mike and Patty share with our community what they love most…fabulous food!
“Honestly,” says Patty, “we created Dekker’s Mesquite Grill because we wanted a nice, casual upscale place for dinner close to our home. We had no idea what it would turn into. We actually built the backroom as a personal space to get together with friends and enjoy great food and conversation. But before we got a chance to use it…we already needed that space for our customers!”
And with two renowned chefs in-house, Dekker’s does delicious food right! Cooked Texas style—on a mesquite grill over an open fire—the seafood, steaks and chicken are super fresh and the portions are humongous for the price. With an ample menu there’s something for everyone, including the kids! Check out the mouth-watering hamburgers and don’t overlook a real “customer favorite”…the specials! Patty says, “We offer five or six specials daily, and we’ve been told many of our regulars have never eaten from the menu…they always get a special.” Relax with your family and enjoy live acoustic music on the deck Wednesday to Friday. “We have four musicians,” says Patty, “with a nice mix of country-western and the classics people love. There’s always people singing along.” Need a glass of wine with that? Dekker’s wine list includes both value wines and some of the best wines on the market. “Wine is one of our passions,” says Patty, “and we are very knowledgable about it.”
Michael and Patty love this community and everything about it. A proud sponsor of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Dekker’s is a destination stop for the Valley Forge Texas Trail Rider’s Association. Michael and Patty’s two daughters, Torrey and Kally, attend St. John XXIII College Preparatory in Katy, where Torrey is a junior and Kally is a freshman. You can always find Patty volunteering at St. John and Dekker’s recently donated a complete kitchen to the school. “I can’t say enough about St. John,” says Patty, “We have been so happy with them and we support them in any way that we can!”
“It is our hope that you will love Dekker’s as much as we do,” says Patty. “Come visit us and enjoy yourself!”
