Sugar Land natives Jamie Fish and her husband live in Richmond with their two young sons…five year old Landon, and Ashton who just turned two. Ashton—a typical, active toddler—was taking a nap when Jamie heard him whining. She went in to see if he was okay and he had blood smeared on his face, coming from his nose.
Jamie says, “I had heard lots of good things about St. Michael’s Emergency Room from people in the community and from friends, so I decided to take him there. The office was very clean and we were seen immediately. It was a great place for kids…they had elephant decorations and my kids happen to love elephants. And the doctor was fantastic…he offered both my boys their color choice of popsicles. This made them very happy! Then the nurse occupied Landon with toys and cartoons while the doctor examined Ashton. This kind gesture was very helpful for me, as it allowed me to concentrate on Ashton.”
“The doctor did not put Ashton through any extra unnecessary tests,” continues Jamie. “He was very calm and patient, and talked to Ashton about what he was going to do. He showed Ashton his flashlight and let him touch it. They found that nothing was wrong and reassured us that everything was okay. He didn’t even need x-rays. Naturally I was very relieved. I’m so impressed with St. Michael’s. The facility is beautiful and the wonderful staff is so patient with little kids. They took the time to make both of my sons feel comfortable, and I can’t thank them enough for taking care of my little guy!”
