Everybody has a story: the ladder that slipped, the fever that spiked, the accident no one saw coming. What you don’t need in an emergency is a story about spending the night waiting to be seen in emergency room. Thanks to St. Michael’s Emergency Rooms, these “Tales from the ER” all have happy endings!

Imagine this: it’s late at night on Easter Sunday and you’re in terrible pain. Where do you go? One patient writes: “I went to St. Michael’s with painful kidney stones. The nurses were fantastic…making sure my pain was managed and that I was comfortable. The doctor was great at explaining to me what was going on and what my labs showed. He also provided me with copies for my doctor. It was Easter Sunday, so they gave me meds before I left so I wouldn’t have to find a 24 hour pharmacy at 10PM. They even called me the next day to see how I was feeling!”

Is your family enjoying an active summer? It only takes a second for a day of fun to turn into a story from the ER. One local woman writes, “We thought my husband broke his ankle on a Sunday afternoon at a swim meet. We took him straight to St. Michael’s. We were seen immediately, x-rays were taken and read very quickly. It ended up not being broken, but a bad sprain. They wrapped it up, gave him some pain meds, crutches and instructions on what he should do to heal and we were on our way home. It was a very fast and pleasant experience. We only paid our  copay and insurance was billed for the rest. I would definitely go back in a second!!! Thank you, St. Michael’s!!!” St. Michael’s will give you any needed referrals to specialists and communicate with your doctor to make sure you get the best care.

Think back to your last trip to the ER. Would you describe it as “Fantastic?” That’s the way St. Michael’s stories always end! One patient writes, “Last month I had a very unexpected case of vertigo and my wife rushed me to St. Michael’s. The staff and doctors there had me checked in, completely evaluated (including a CT scan) and safely diagnosed in 45 minutes. I was properly evaluated and provided with an RX to correct the problem and safely on my way home within the hour. It was FANTASTIC!”

St. Michael’s Emergency Room is not an urgent care center…it’s a full-fledged, free-standing Emergency Room with Board-Certified Physician and all the advantages of a “traditional ER.” St. Michael’s is the first and only free-standing emergency room in Fort Bend and the surrounding Houston area in-network with Aetna. We are working on similar contracts with other insurance companies and currently accept more than 200 insurance plans, including Cigna, Blue Cross, United & Humana. Recently expanded from 5,500 square feet to approximately 10,000 square feet, St. Michael’s offers nine exam rooms (including pediatric themed rooms and a Harley-Davidson room!), a treatment suite for observation, and a comfortable waiting room…with a limited wait time!

St. Michael’s Emergency Rooms does not currently participate in any Medicare or Medicaid programs.
