And we can see why! The moment you walk in, you are immersed in a resort-like community that smells fresh and clean. What we provide is a purpose to get up, get dressed, and be active by living life in the moment,” continue Lorene and Renee. “We have several social areas, family bathrooms all over the place, a heated pool with tiki bar, walking paths, a putting green, a dog park and a fishing pond…and at least 10 organized activities a day, seven days a week. There’s no reason to stay in your apartment! We also encourage our residents to take ownership in areas they are passionate about.” In our short visit, we met both the resident Bible Study leader and the man who took charge of reorganizing the library. We witnessed an Army sergeant leading a modified marching drill during exercise class, and had the pleasure of meeting Renee’s mother-in-law, one of the happy citizens at Inspired Living at Sugar Land.

Apartment sizes are intermixed and range from small studios to two bedroom. All include high ceilings, a kitchenette, and a zero threshold walk-in shower. Independent living and assisted living residents are also intermixed, removing the stigma of “moving” when more help is required. Residents are secure, but they are not locked down. “It’s what we hear most often: People really feel the freedom here!” Memory care residents enjoy a mirror image environment with additional security measures in place for safety.
