Day Included University of Houston Pre-Med Orchestra Private Performance, Interactive Kid Station, Parent Spa Treatments & Gourmet Candlelight Dinner
WHAT: Since its first year in 2014, Five Star Day has given families of seriously ill children an opportunity to relax, be pampered, and take a break from the harsh reality of their child’s medical condition.
This past Monday, April 25th, Five Star Day was an all-day affair that provided: activities for the children at our first-ever PwC Foundation Interactive Kid Station, restful spa retreats for parents, and a gourmet candlelight dinner that families enjoyed together, prepared by Magnolia Hotels’ Executive Chef Adam Deviney. Evening entertainment included a special, private musical performance by the University of Houston’s Pre-Medical Collegiate Orchestra, fun with Ronald McDonald, and a magic show!

The average family stays at our Holcombe House for 16 nights while traveling to and from the hospital for appointments. Five Star Day is not just about the physical transformation of the space into a Five Star Resort– it is also a transformative experience because it allows families to spend time together that does not revolve around their child’s illness.
Ronald McDonald House Houston provides families with a home away from home: a safe, comfortable, affordable place to live while their child receives treatment for a life-threatening illness inside the Texas Medical Center. While meeting the families’ most vital need for a place to stay, RMH Houston also offers meals, activities, and opportunities to connect with other families facing similar crises.
