But what about unsung heroes? The entire staff of Alan’s Plumbing, including Alan Burkhalter and his brother Chris, and Alan’s sons Beau, Luke, and Jake, have an unsung hero. Her name is Jennifer Burkhalter, otherwise known as Mom.

Jennifer isn’t just the warm, friendly, compassionate voice you hear at the other end of the phone when you call with a plumbing emergency. She’s the brains, the heart, and the soul of Alan’s Plumbing. She’s one of the reasons why Alan’s Plumbing has won the Reader’s Choice award for the last ten years.

“I love how customers are amazed by how much she knows about leaking pipes and plumbing issues,” Jake Burkhalter says. “She’s always in a great mood…no matter how much is going on. Whether I’m at college finishing up my degree or putting my plumbing skills to good use, Mom has the solution to pretty much everything.”

“I love her as a mom and admire her as a person,” Beau says. “She coordinates calls, handles schedules, orders plumbing supplies, and takes care of everything at home. Mom is always there for us.”

Luke says, “She has one of the hardest jobs in the company, but she just thrives on making sure everything runs smoothly. We’re a family business, and we look at the Sugar Land area not only as our home but as a continuation of our family. In a sense, she isn’t just our mom, she’s everyone’s mom–every customer who has trusted us with their business. Even if I weren’t her son, I’d be really glad to know someone as hard-working and honest as she is.”

“I won the wife lottery,” says plumbing patriarch Alan Burkhalter. “It’s that simple. Everyone who knows Jennifer, loves her. I’m her biggest fan.”
