Born in Elgin, Texas and raised in Brazoria, George Burke has been married to his wife, Jackie, for 52 years. They have three children and eight grandchildren. George had been experiencing some swelling and discoloration in his lower legs when his family physician, Dr. Harvey Resnick of Lake Jackson, referred him to Dr. Baltazar.
Dr. Baltazar is certified by the American Board of Surgery in Vascular Surgery. After reviewing George’s records and a thorough examination, Dr. Baltazar asked him this question, “Do you want to see your grandchildren grow up?” That question really got George’s attention. George said, “My legs looked grotesque but I didn’t feel that bad. Dr. Baltazar took the time to explain my condition and to help me understand how I could improve my health and quality of life…and be around to see my grandchildren grow up.”
From the beginning Dr. Baltazar told him, “I am going to work to get you better, but I expect you to work too.” Besides recommending surgery, Dr. Baltazar suggested George lose some weight to improve his overall health. George was grateful for the advice and the warning. He has recovered from his surgery and has lost thirty pounds so far. On a follow-up visit George was surprised by the response he got from Dr. Baltazar and his staff. He says he thinks they were more excited than his family is about his weight loss.
Dr. Baltazar has been diagnosing and treating venous diseases for over ten years. He has extensive experience placing guide wires, using lasers, ultrasound and the latest technology, including performing the first case of Mechano-Chemical Ablation (MOCA) in Texas. Professionally, Dr. Baltazar enjoys the recognition of his peers as a physician who stays on top of current developments and innovative procedures…but his personal pleasure comes from getting to know his patients and treating them with the timeliness and care they deserve. It’s no wonder that Dr. Baltazar has been named “Most Supporting Physician” and awarded the “Patient’s Choice” award.
In taking the time to listen and hear each patient’s concerns, Dr. Baltazar is able to understand more than just what he reads in the chart. He learns what is really important to each individual…so he can ask them a really good question.
