“I’m raising my family right where I grew up. I lived in Sienna before Sienna was Sienna. I was actually in the first four-year graduating class of Elkins High School,” says Jaison Thottumkal (JT), owner of AIS Remodeling. “I’ve lived in Fort Bend County for decades and have had my own remodeling business for 20 of those years. We love updating kitchens because kitchens are where everyone gathers, especially during big holiday get-togethers. Right before the holidays is our busiest time because everyone wants the perfect kitchen to entertain.”
JT knows a little bit about busy kitchens and busy families. He and his wife, Preena, have two active, growing boys – Joshua is 10 and Jaiden is eight. Add to that their huge 100 lb. American Akita, Korage, and there is a lot of activity in the Thottumkal home. “Our boys love growing up in Ft. Bend County. They attend elementary school in the neighborhood and are busy with Jiu Jitsu and soccer,” JT says. “In a full-circle moment for me, I used to go to my dad’s construction sites with him, and now I sometimes take my kids to work with me.”
You may run into JT and his family at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church right here in Missouri City, or at an Exchange Club of Sugar Land fundraiser – he’s been a member of the club for years. The family business also donates to the Houston Humane Society, has a business membership with The 100 Club, and donates to Child Advocates of Fort Bend.”
“I started this business because of my family ties with the construction industry. My dad is a custom home builder and commercial developer, and my family imports stone,” JT says. “My dad actually built the house where we lived in Waterbrook West, before Sienna surrounded our neighborhood.”
“In our area, many homes are 20, 30, 40 years old – they’re ready to be updated,” JT continues. “In addition to kitchens, we also handle bathroom remodeling, flooring, and carpentry. We’re a full service remodeling company.”
AIS has updated homes in some of the most established communities in our county. “We work on homes in Greatwood, New Territory, Quail Valley – you name it and we’ve done a home there,” JT continues. They also travel as far as West University, River Oaks, The Woodlands, Lake Jackson, and everywhere in between.
