Amazing cuisine and giving back come together with Houston Restaurant Weeks, taking place this year between August 1st and September 1st…because one week just wasn’t enough! Ray Salti, the restaurateur behind Sorrel Urban Bistro and Ray’s Gourmet Country Grill, says, “Houston Restaurant Weeks is a special opportunity to give back to the Houston Food Bank…as well as an opportunity to offer everyone a fantastic introduction to some of the finest restaurants around. Our chefs have created special menus that really represent the personality of each restaurant…and offer wonderful choices for every course.”

Named among the Top 10 Best New Restaurants in America by Gayot in 2012, and winner of Citysearch Diner’s Choice 2012, Sorrel Urban Bistro collaborates with local farmers, ranchers and fishermen to bring organically sourced and seasonal produce, meats and seafood to their patrons in their daily changing menu. During Houston Restaurant Weeks at Sorrel, you can enjoy a fixed-price 3-course lunch for $20, a 3-course brunch for $25, or a four-course dinner for $45. Ray’s Gourmet Country Grill, a unique neighborhood bar and restaurant, celebrates the farm-to-table concept with an open kitchen environment and a seasonally rotating menu with recipes featuring quality, organic, and local ingredients. During Houston Restaurant Weeks, Ray’s Grill will offer a three-course dinner for $35.

Last year, the 180 participating restaurants in Houston Restaurant Weeks raised $1,285,260 for the food bank. Ray says, “Ray’s Grill has participated in Houston Restaurant Weeks for the last five years and Sorrel Urban Bistro has participated since it opened three years ago. Last year these two restaurants alone donated more than $11,000 to the Houston Food Bank…and we certainly hope to top that number this year with your help! Houston Restaurant Weeks was established in 2003 by Cleverley Stone, host of “The Cleverley Show,” a food talk radio program on CBS Sports Radio 650/KIKK-AM Houston and 6 1/2 year food segment contributor to Houston’s Fox 26 Morning News. To date, the event has raised more than $4.3 million to fight hunger in Houston. The HRW team of volunteers donate their time to produce the event so that 100% of the donations raised go directly to the Houston Food Bank.
