ZOOMing to Help the Kids.

What makes a group of people get up early on Wednesdays to meet for breakfast every week? “It’s all about the kids!” says Exchange Club of Sugar Land President Paul Barnett.

Exchange Club of Sugar Land sponsors events, raises money, and volunteers to support other area organizations committed to the prevention of child abuse. “Like everyone else, we are currently meeting via Zoom because of COVID,” continues Paul. “But we haven’t lost sight of our purpose. Our members are still out there, planning projects that help make Fort Bend County a better place to live.”

Just one example in a myriad of many, during the July 8th Zoom meeting Exchange Club of Sugar Land donated $1000 to Champions Kids Camp. This weeklong camp is dedicated to the nurturing of children who have survived a traumatic injury, illness, or personal loss, such as the loss of a parent or sibling. Founder Bill Nash was present at the Zoom meeting to accept the donation. Bill said, “God bless Fort Bend County and the Exchange Club of Sugar Land for showing the heart of God in how you care about people.” Bill went on to explain that he was leaving for camp the next day, but needed to pick up pillows and blankets first for kids that may not have the means to bring their own. Exchange Club members David Lanagan and Doug Earle responded by each adding 12 pillows and 12 blankets to the donation. By the time Bill left for camp, Exchange members had raised the total to 36 of each.
