The Comfort of Home with the Support You Need

The first thing you notice is the three-acre lot and canopy of oak trees outside. As you enter the controlled access home, you’ll see the impeccable design in the community living room and dining room (accommodating up to 16 residents and their families) and the high-end kitchen with a dining bar where residents can watch the kitchen team at work.

You’ll also find personal touches. Each bedroom is designed by the residents and their families to make them feel at home. As you stroll through the hallways, you’ll see a resident’s grandfather clock and another resident’s grandmother’s sewing machine lining the hall, offering more familiarity to people making the transition into assisted living or memory care.

“People in this position have already had to give up so many of their personal belongings. We want to be sure they feel at home here,” says Tracy Jones, one of the owners of Silverbelle Assisted Living in Richmond. “We don’t want this to be a hard move. We want it to feel like an elevated move.”

Tracy and her husband Dr. Jeff Jones wanted to make Silverbelle a unique living space. They noticed that seniors thrive in nature and more home-like environments. “A lot of my patients in my previous pain management practice needed assisted living, but they didn’t like the idea of moving into a sterile, impersonal community,” Dr. Jones says. “I started thinking about how we could provide a clean, nice place for them to age in place.”

Silverbelle fulfilled its prophecy. Recently opened in late July, Silverbelle already has its first residents, including 93-year-old friends Mary and Marlene, as well as Harell, 94. One family member commented, “Here at Silverbelle, they encourage them to get out of their rooms. It’s more like a home. It’s a bit further of a drive than where she lived before, but it’s definitely worth the drive.”

Mary herself loves sitting among the trees in the big backyard. “I love it here. I just love the land around me. I’m an outdoor person. I lived in the country,” she says. “And the food is great!”

“There is just something unique and special about Silverbelle. It’s an honor and a privilege for people to entrust us with their loved ones’ care,” Tracy says.
