Black, Gold and BOLD

Linda is a ball of electricity, dressed head-to-toe in gold and black, full of energy and strong convictions. Married for 30 years, she and her husband, Gaston, have lived in their current Sugar Land home for 14 years. When the time came to update their primary bath, Linda knew just what she wanted – extravagant and grandiose, just like Linda herself.

“I knew I wanted something different, updated, and modern,” she says. So, she started shopping. She bought all of the fixtures, tiles, toilet – literally everything – before the Re-Modelista, Teri Gilberg, was even hired for the job.

“I was so happy to find Teri. We just connected – we have similar energy. She saw all of the materials and immediately knew the direction I was going,” Linda says. “She was happy to use all of the supplies I’d already purchased and even made a couple of suggestions, like grab bars, that added to the space. I appreciated her taking on a job that wasn’t hers from start to finish.”

Finding a great contractor that was dependable and proficient wasn’t easy. “On another job, we went through two contractors,” Linda explains. “But Teri’s team was so good. They were completely cooperative. And Teri was on-site all the time.”

The new design didn’t change the footprint of the bathroom, but they remodeled everything. They installed new raised counters and black vessel sinks with unique black and gold fixtures. The floor tile is black with cloudy gray and gold marbling, while the regal wall tile has a black matte base with a simple gold design. The bathroom also has a rainfall shower system and remodeled closet with beautiful black and frosted glass doors with gold handles. The commode is even black with golden accents.

The new soaking bathtub is Linda’s favorite part of the remodel. The tub adds a pop of white to the room, and has a wavy, textured design. “We’ve lived in this house for 14 years and I never took a bath in the old tub,” she explains. “I just always looked at someone else’s bathtub.”

Every touch was thoughtfully considered, down to the black and gold cat box for their cat, Sweet Pea.

“I’m proud and happy with it. We even re-did our bedroom in black and gold to match the bathroom,” Linda says. “Teri’s communication is outstanding. She’s super responsive and her quote was so detailed from the painting to the plumbing to the construction. The job was exactly what she said it would be.”
