Finding New Roads…and Building New Opportunities

Have you noticed an undercurrent of excitement in Sugar Land? We’ve got the roads, we’ve got the medical facilities, we’ve got the baseball stadium…and now we’ll be getting an amazing performing arts center. Don Kerstetter of Classic Chevrolet says, “We’re proud to support the creation of a center we know will be an enduring classic landmark here in Sugar Land.”

That’s right…2014 heralds the projected groundbreaking for a 6,500-seat performing arts venue in Sugar Land on 38.5 acres of city-owned property in the Telfair commercial district, southeast of U.S. 59 and University Boulevard. The center will be built through a partnership between the city of Sugar Land and ACE SL of ACE Theatrical Group. Martinez & Johnson Architects, a firm specializing in performing arts venues, will create the building’s design.

In 2007 a community task force of residents and businesses leaders set out to identify a vision for Sugar Land’s future. Their recommendations included creating a baseball stadium, a festival site, a convention center and an indoor concert facility. Now area residents and businesses like Classic Chevrolet are getting excited about Constellation Field and this performing arts center. Improving the amenities available to Sugar Land’s residents will also attract tourists, grow our sales tax base, and help us become a true destination city.

Ready to enjoy a big national show? You won’t have to budget an extra 2-3 hours travel time to get to the downtown Theater District or the Pavilion in The Woodlands, once we have our own Performing Arts Center right here.

What do local businesses think about the planned Performing Arts Center? Don Kerstetter, owner of Classic Chevrolet says, “Most of our employees live and shop right here in Fort Bend…and they also go to baseball games at Constellation Field and plan on seeing some shows at the new Performing Arts Center. When you spend your money with us or other local businesses, those dollars go right back into the community to support local growth. The great relationship we’ve built with this community is the foundation of our success…and we’re committed to continuing to offer the same friendly, dependable service that makes us a Classic!”
