Did you know your comfort level can affect your health? It’s true…if you’re not able to discuss your worries and concerns with your doctor, you won’t get the answers and the treatment you need. Dr. Quynh-Thu “Gigi” Doan, MD says, “I always have new patients meet me first for a fully-dressed, get-to-know-you visit in my office…and I really enjoy catching up with returning patients. We’ll chat until you feel comfortable enough to tell me what’s really going on. Believe me, no matter what you’re experiencing, you’re not the only one!”

Having a heart-to-heart with your doctor can set your mind at ease! Dr. Gigi says, “I often get a lot of ‘uncomfortable’ information from patients, and I’m able to reassure them that a lot of women have the same issues…but they just don’t talk about it. I hope you’ll feel comfortable discussing everything from decreased libido to ‘is this normal anatomy’ to heavy periods with me.

Little white lies––what you think about a friend’s new haircut or whether you like your mother-in-law’s meatloaf––make life nicer…but you can tell Dr. Gigi the truth. She says, “Whether you’re embarrassed about incontinence during your aerobics class, pain during intercourse, or answering questions about your sexual history…you can tell me anything. I’m in this profession to support you emotionally while protecting your physical health. This is a safe place for you to talk about anything that’s troubling you.”

Did you think the stethoscope and speculum were Dr. Gigi’s most important medical tools? She says, “Our conversation is a critical diagnostic tool. During your exam, we’ll chat about your kids, your life, all kinds of things. When I start asking questions, that’s when my patients feel comfortable enough to tell me what’s really going on. As a woman, I’ve been a patient and I know how awkward and vulnerable you feel. As a doctor, I’m able to offer a variety of treatment options…many that are easier and much less invasive that you might imagine!”

“Getting to know each of my patients helps me provide you best treatment…and it gives me great joy!”
