Have It Your Way–Traditional or Contemporary

by Amy Sharp

In this day and age, we have more electronics than ever–flat screen TVs, Blu Ray players, gaming consoles, cable boxes, sub woofers–the list is endless. But how do you store all all of these devices and use them, and still seamlessly have them fit in with your house decor? Steve Procter of Procter Custom Woodworking has the answer.“I specialize in customized furniture, and entertainment centers are one of my more popular items,” says Steve. “ If you need a different size, different functionality or a custom-fit, I’m your guy.”

Different size was exactly what Sreekanth in Missouri City needed. “A store bought entertainment center would have been dwarfed by the large wall in our family room,” says Sreekanth, “We really wanted to utilize the space, and we wanted it all to blend with the woodwork in our adjacent kitchen. We sat down with Steve, and he designed a contemporary entertainment cabinet complete with DVD storage, connected cabinets to hide sub woofers and built-in lighting. Honestly, the end product exceeded our expectations. It blends perfectly with our decor and it’s not only functional, but beautiful!”

David also of Missouri City was looking for something more traditional when he contacted Steve. “My wife and I wanted an elegant piece that had everything concealed by shutters, but still operational–a very traditional, mahogany cabinet. We talked to Steve about what we were looking for, and the result is amazing. Steve’s ability to take vision to reality and his utilization of space is phenomenal. He’s more than a craftsman. He can educate you about the different styles of furniture–colonial, southern, contemporary, traditional, etc–and the quality of his work is second to none. He understands the different uses of different types of wood, and uses quality hardware (think drawers that slide extremely easily!) My wife and I have had a few pieces built by Steve, and we consider them family heirlooms–absolutely beautiful pieces that will be around for a long time!”
