The Man Behind the Music

Charlie Hall, owner of CMH Productions, got his start in the oil and gas business or as Charlie calls it “his day job.” One thing was always constant, his love of great music. That’s why he put his charisma to work, bringing his favorite performers to the Stafford Centre. Just check out the list of musicians he’s brought to town!

Comedy shows, bands, solo acts, country, pop, rock, Motown and R&B…it’s all been featured on the Stafford Centre stage. Charlie and his wife Janice have become good friends with many of artists he’s recruited, especially the late Ray Price. He says, “I do this for the joy of it and to share some of the greatest music of all time with the community I call home.”

The Stafford Centre boasts a 1150 seat auditorium with 25,000 square feet of meeting, banquet and exposition space and over 28 acres of outdoor festival green space. Over the past 10 years, CMH Productions has hosted many sold out performances. The wide variety of artists matches Charlie’s eclectic appreciation of music and has been well received by concert goers of all ages.

Since 2004, the Centre has welcomed over 3 million patrons to the facility. “As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Stafford Centre,” says Bryan Blaum, “we’re thankful the Mayor, City Council, and Stafford Economic Development Corporation had the wisdom and vision to build this multi-purpose venue to enhance the lives of its citizens and those from surrounding communities.”

Upcoming events include: June 25th the Urban Cowboy Reunion Tour starring Mickey Gilley and featuring Johnny Lee, July 4th the City of Stafford Annual 4th of July Celebration including a free performance by the Fort Bend Symphony (housed year-round in the Stafford Centre), August 15 the 30th Anniversary of the Happy Together Tour benefiting the Fort Bend County Women’s Center featuring The Turtles, Chuck Negron of Three Dog Night, Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, and Gary Lewis and the Playboys and September 28th The Best of Jethro Tull performed by Ian Anderson.
