This month, Monte’s Tastes + Taps celebrates its one year anniversary! “We opened last year during the Astros playoffs,” says owner Braden Lomonte. “We’re your neighborhood, family-friendly sports bar. Making everyone feel welcome is our specialty.”

Monte’s Tastes + Taps is not only located just down the sidewalk from Lomonte’s Italian Restaurant, it’s an extension of Lomonte’s. Braden says, “My family opened the first Lomonte’s Italian Restaurant in Houston in 1986. In 2006, I opened our location here to be Fort Bend’s neighborhood Italian place. At Monte’s Tastes + Taps, we offer the same great quality and top-notch service in a more casual bar concept. It’s a lot of fun!”

With seven TVs on the patio and 17 TVs throughout, Monte’s Tastes + Taps is the place to catch your favorite sports. “The Astros, the Texans, we play the major games over the speakers,” explains Braden. “We also show UFC fights and boxing matches.”

But it’s more than just sports. This bar offers table service with upscale bar food. The wings and burgers are big hits, and so are the specials. On Texas Tuesday, there’s always a smoked or BBQ special that can be paired with discounted Texas booze and beer. Wednesday is Ladies’ Night, and Thursday is Steak Night. Braden says, “Steak Night is upscale. We offer a nice ribeye…it’s a great cut. Our specials other nights run a full range, from stuffed turkey legs to fresh fish specials. Our salad dressing is made in house from scratch. You will not be disappointed.” There’s live music on the patio every Friday night. The turf area on the patio is a huge hit with families. “We love that kids have the freedom to run around and play in the turf area. We have something for everyone!”

Happy Hour at Monte’s Tastes + Taps runs 3pm-6pm Tuesday through Friday. The full bar includes specialty drinks, frozen drinks, all your favorite drafts mixed in with rotating local crafts, and a nice wine list.
