“It was a typical Sunday evening this past April,” says Elizabeth Lorber, “and my seven year old daughter was helping me do the dishes. She dropped a heavy glass in the sink and when she went to grab it, it sliced open her finger. It was bleeding a lot so I took a picture of it and called a friend of mine who is a doctor. He recommended that I take her to St. Michael’s Emergency Room for stitches. I made the mistake of taking her to a local children’s emergency room first…thinking that they would be helpful since she was so young. I was very disappointed that they didn’t help us when we got there, so we left right away.”
“When we got to St. Michael’s,” continues Elizabeth, “the staff greeted us immediately and everyone was nice and efficient. The nurse took us right in and everyone was very gentle and caring with my daughter. She was very nervous and they calmed her down. The doctor used Steri-Strips instead of stitches for her finger because they lessen scarring and are easier to care for…and they were also less traumatic than having to get stitches. It was great…everyone was very gentle with my daughter. When we got home, her bandage started to slip off and we had to go back to St. Michael’s to get it fixed. The staff was very willing to fix it immediately and her cut healed beautifully!”
“I just can’t say enough nice things,” says Elizabeth, “The staff at St. Michael’s were truly amazing and everyone there was extremely nurturing. And as an added bonus…we were in and out of the office in less than an hour!”
“When you have kids…accidents happen,” says Dr. Shannon Orsak, founder of St. Michael’s Emergency Rooms and father of twin daughters, Savannah and Sierra, and son Shannon. “But the emergency room shouldn’t be a scary place for you or your child. At St. Michael’s, we are committed to top-notch, nurturing care for patients of all ages!” St. Michael’s is one of the few licensed, free-standing ER facilities with Joint Commission Accreditation, ACR certified radiology suites, and CLIA certified labs.
