According to the Texas Brain Injury Alliance, more than 144,000 Texans sustain a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) every year; more than 5,700 Texans are permanently disabled every year from a TBI; and an estimated 381,000 Texans (2% of the population) live with a disability caused by a TBI. Dr. Orsak says, “I encourage you to print out the Concussion Cards created by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and carry them with you…and remember that St. Michael’s Emergency Rooms is always here for you and your family!”
