Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels announces their Board of Directors for 2012-2013, who officially took office in September 2012. The Board is made up of fourteen men and women from across Fort Bend County and offer an array of expertise in many professional areas including, Legal, Banking, Marketing, Public Safety, Senior Care, Finance, Automotive and Health and Wellness.
The 2012-13 Board of Directors are: Board Chairman David Vasquez – G&A Partners, Vice Chairman Randy Briones – Kindred Hospital Sugar Land, Secretary Ray Aguilar – Classic Chevrolet, Assistant Secretary Rick Forlano – Rick Forlano Law, Treasurer Tom Shirley – NewFirst National Bank, Board Members: Namita Asthana – The Curry Cup, Ron Ewer – Legacy Ford, Paul Friesen – University Place, Susan Hargarther – Business Spirit, Eric Robins – Sugar Land Police Department, Russell Sander – Missouri City Fire Department, Wanda Sdao, Nicole Volek – Home Health Resources and Manuela Arroyos – FBS CEO.

Organized in 1974 by community leaders who recognized a need to provide seniors with hot regular meals, Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels is one of Fort Bend’s oldest non-profit agencies, receiving support under the Older American’s Act of 1965. Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels serves approximately 1,000 older adults daily through the Meals on Wheels and congregate meal programs. Currently, there are nine congregate centers in Fort Bend County and one in Waller County. Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels is the only agency providing hot nutritious meals to all persons 60 years of age and over regardless of income, although 85% of the clients live at or below the poverty level.
In addition to the meal programs, Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels provides comprehensive services and programs including transportation, case management, telephone reassurance, health screenings, information and referral services and recreation.
Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels, a United Way Agency, is committed to helping seniors remain independent by enhancing their quality of life through services and resources. Fort Bend Seniors is qualified under 50lC(3) of the Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit corporation, as such contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent as allowed by law.
