“I’m an artist, but I like to do graphic design, quilting, mosaics…not interior decor. I wanted a coherent design…and that’s what my designers Kathy Gwynn and Mark did for us. I found beautiful Portuguese tiles (like some my husband had given me) that made a mural with a bird. Mark had his contractor Hector install them as a backsplash for us…and he did a wonderful job! Mark brought us an amazing idea for the ceiling. He drew a grid with beams in a square with the part in the center painted dark blue. Although I had a hard time imagining it, I decided to go with it…and now everyone loves it––it’s the coolest feature!”

“We tore out and replaced all the cabinets in the kitchen. Our old walk-in pantry has been replaced with cabinets…and now we have more storage space in a closet under our stairs. We made changes to the laundry room––stacking the washer and dryer, installing a cabinet and a small freezer. Kathy had the idea of changing the big closet in our bathroom into a cabinet. The shelves are still large enough for my linens and blankets…and I have room for suitcases in that expanded closet under the stairs.”

“Then Kathy and I started looking for the perfect stone for the kitchen. I wanted silestone countertops, but something different for the island and the window seats. We found the most gorgeous Fusion stone, but there was going to be a chunk left over. Kathy suggested putting it in the bathroom. I thought, “Why not? We were going to redo it eventually anyway.” Mark’s team ripped out that bathroom and used up every scrap of the stone we had. We pulled the floor tile from the kitchen into the bathroom…and then used the tile in the entryway to replace the old tile there. Now one room really flows beautifully into the next!”
