When you live in the same home for almost 25 years, the time comes for updates to be made. Calvin and France called the Re-Modelista, Teri Gilberg, a few years ago to update their primary bathroom, and loved what she did.
“We then asked Teri to update our guest bathroom. She took out the bathtub and created a beautiful walk-in shower, installed a larger sink cabinet, new tile, and painted the room,” Calvin says. “As I walked out of the just-finished bathroom, my wife and Teri were already measuring in the kitchen. I learned at that moment that we were starting project number three with Teri and her crew.”
“Her crew is really great. They’re craftsmen,” he continues. “They are really thoughtful about how they do their job. They want to be sure it’s right the first time.”
France and Calvin worked with the designer that Teri offers and coordinated things and chose colors. They chose to paint the island cabinets gray, while adding a fresh coat of white paint to the cabinetry along the long wall. Coordinated white and gray granite ties the cabinets together, along with a new gray tile floor.
“The original tiles were 12” square brown tiles with thick grout. The new tile is very smooth, very versatile, and much easier to maintain and clean,” Calvin explains. “The whole room is now fresh and bright, not dark and dated. We added additional can lighting and pendants. Everything we did makes the area much brighter, lighter, and feels roomier.”
“My favorite part of the kitchen is probably my corner to store my Scotch,” Calvin laughs. “But really, I absolutely love the countertops. The textures stand out well and everything coordinates together.”
“Our countertop is the shape and size of a grand piano. Plus there’s a long straight counter along the wall. So we used a lot of granite,” Calvin continues. “We had a bit of extra granite we were able to use for the fireplace surround. We used every bit of the granite that we possibly could.”
Impressed with Teri’s communication from the beginning, Calvin says, “We had a text string with all of us on it and Teri would make sure you understood what her team needed to do and why. Everyone was always on the same page.”
“France is happy, so I’m happy,” Calvin concludes. “You don’t use someone three times and not like what they do. When the kitchen was done I saw smiles from everyone!”
